August Programming

Coming off the roaring success of our Summer Reading Programs, August is a quiet month here at Spencer Public Library. But just because we don't have as many events to choose from doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do at the library! Adults can enjoy snacks and watch "Oz: The Great and Powerful" during our Adult Movie Night at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 12th, stop in and make pressed flower bookmarks at our Do It Yourself Club at 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 15th or even join us for the Bring Your Own Book Club at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 29th.
Teens can join us for the afternoon on August 17th, with Teen Video Gaming at 2:00 pm. Wish there was more to do for teen events? Stop in early at 1:30 and help plan new teen programs with the Teen Board and then join us on August 18th for Dungeons & Dragons!
Children have fun at the library too! Storytime occurs weekly on Tuesdays at 10:00 am with a new theme every time! Children are also encouraged to build with us in Lego Club, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 10th.
The best part? There are all free monthly events -- only the themes, projects and movies shown each month change!
We also have a special Family Movie Day showing of "Oz: The Great and Powerful" for this month, starting at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 24th.
The Anime and Japanese Culture Club meets at 11:00 am on Friday, August 2nd and 9th, and concludes for the summer with a mini-Obon Festival on Friday, August 16th. Following the festival, the AJCC breaks for the remainder of August, and resumes with our regular schedule starting Saturday, September 14th, meeting every other week after.
Check us out on Twitter, Tumblr & Facebook!
Summer Hours: Monday through Thursday - 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Friday and Saturday - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; Sundays - Closed.

Speakeasy Adult SRP Party!

Thanks everyone for participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program 2013. Sadly, at the end of July we will be saying goodbye to the Adult Summer Reading Program. But, before we say farewell, those who finished the program (read three books) will have a roaring time at our Speakeasy Party. Come dressed as a gangster, flapper, or just the way you are for door prizes, mock tails, and a twenties movie. Please RSVP by telephone (580-7290) or at the front desk for the Speakeasy Party on Tuesday, July 30 @ 6:30 PM. If you read three books, you qualify for the party. We will draw for the Kindle Fire at the party, but you don’t have to be present to win. We will have door prizes to be drawn from those that attend.

Thanks for reading!
