October Programming For Adults

October is an exciting month. With Halloween creeping around the corner adults at Spencer Public Library have a variety of exciting programs.
The DIY club is back with a Halloweenish craft. We will be using tulle, ribbon, and pumpkins to create a fabulous fall display. Come join us! October 6 @ 6:30 PM – Registration required.
Our free movie for October is “The Fault in Our Stars” starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. Based on a novel by John Green, “The Fault in Our Stars” is a romance between two teenagers who met at a cancer support group. As always, snacks will be provided – Registration required.
Have you always wanted to write a novel, but do not know how to begin? Join us on October 20 @ 6:30 PM for our last writing session before National Novel Writing Month (Nanowrimo) in November. We will be outlining our core ideas and discovering our characters and, of course, having fun!
In the spirit of Halloween, the Books To Movies club will watch “Frankenstein” on October 27 @7:00 PM. Everyone is invited to watch the movie even if you never read the book or read it a long time ago. The next Book to Movie is “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” written by Carson McCullers and starring Alan Arkin, Sondra Locke, and Cicely Tyson. “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” is a tragic novel/movie about a deaf man in a 1930’s Georgia Mill Town. Registration required.

Belle is inspired by the true story of Dido
Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the
illegitimate mixed race daughter of Admiral Sir John Lindsay. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet her status prevents her from the traditions of noble social standing. Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicar's son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfield's role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.
Registration is required.
