Babette's Feast

Monday, December 12 @ 6:30 PM

In December, the Book Into Movie Club will be watching Babette’s Feast starring Stephane Audran.  Winner of the 1987 Academy Award for best foreign film Babette’s Feast is good enough to eat. A French refugee is taken in by two pious elderly sisters from a small village on the coast of Denmark only to plan an elaborate, and very expensive, banquet for the residence. Food is at the heart of this story along with how food and gatherings can transform people’s hearts. All are welcome to watch the movie (even if you didn’t read the short story by Isak Dineson (Karen Blixen)). Our next Book Into Movie is the 1951 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk. The novel grew out of Wouk's personal experiences aboard a destroyer-minesweeper in the Pacific during World War II and deals with, among other things, the moral and ethical decisions made at sea by the captains of ships.

Starting Tuesday, November 1st, our weekly Storytime program will now begin at 10:00 instead of 10:30.
As always, we'll explore weekly themes with stories, songs, and rhymes followed by a simple craft. The program will be done by 10:45, allowing enough time for parents to pick up their children from preschools that let out at 11.
