Tween Book Club is a book discussion group for kids in grades 3rd through 5th and meets every other week for four meetings. This winter we will be reading the classic Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie.
At each subsequent meeting we will be discussing a third of the story and doing some activities related to the book. During our final meeting we will be watching the newly released prequel
movie,
Pan.

Teen Fandom Valentine Candy Making Program!
 Just in time for Valentine’s Day, there will be a Teen Fandom Valentine Candy Making program on Friday, February 12 from 2:00-4:00 PM. 
 See how easy it is to make your own Valentine’s Day treats for your friends (and yourself).  We’ll use melted chocolate, special candy molds, and many more tasty ingredients to create delicious treats.  To make it even more exciting we’ll have a variety of chocolate molds related to your favorite fandoms and supplies to make fandom valentines.  This event starts at 2:00 but it’s come and go until 4:00. Yummy!

February 4 @ 6:30 PM – Movie Screening at Spencer Public Library - Filmmaker, Craig Dudnik, will be screening his film “Alice’s Ordinary People” (unrated). The movie documents the journey of Alice Tregay (1929-2015), an ordinary Chicago woman who stood up to injustice in her community. Alice opposed “Willis Wagons”, marched during the Civil Rights Movement with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and worked tirelessly to create Operation Breadbasket. Walk-ins are welcome!

Learn to cook simple international dishes, or simply come and watch, share your enthusiasm for cooking and taste some new foods. The movie and snacks are free but, registration is required.
Our Book Into Movie Club will watch the movie, “Rebecca”, a 1940 Alfred Hitchcock classic starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. “Rebecca” is the story of a young woman who marries a fascinating widower only to find out that she must live in the shadow of his former wife, Rebecca, who died mysteriously several years earlier. You don’t have to read the book to sign-up for the movie. Be sure to sign up for the next Book Into Movie,  Sense and Sensibility, by Jane Austen. Registration required.
The library will be beginning its annual Poetry Contest this month. Be sure to visit us online or stop at the front desk for an entry slip and contest rules.  All ages from Kindergarten-Adult can enter!
