Wednesday and Thursday, May 3 & 4 from 6:00-7:30 PM – Writing Your Retirement Paycheck at Spencer Public Library - A two night workshop presented by Jan Monahan, Human Sciences Specialist, Family Finances at ISU Extension. Learn about strategies for structuring your retirement income, understanding the required minimum distributions, inflation, health costs, annuities, Social Security, retirement withdrawals, and more. This workshop is free, but register by May 1 to reserve your spot – 580-7290. Funded by Iowa State University Extension – Clay.
Monday, May 8 @ 7:00 PM - Movie Night at Spencer Public Library–Loving- Based on a true story, Loving is about Richard and Mildred Loving, a couple whose arrest for interracial marriage in 1960s Virginia began a legal battle that would end with the Supreme Court's historic 1967 decision. Friday, May 19 @ 2:00 PM –Free Screening at Spencer Public Library – Norm Lewis: Who Am I? The Spencer Public Library is partnering with the Lincoln Center to bring exclusive free screenings of Lincoln Center’s finest performances directly to you. Tony nominee and celebrated baritone, Norm Lewis, starred on Broadway in Porgy and Bess, Les Miserables, and The Phantom of the Opera and he will be on screen performing songs Misty, Wouldn’t It Be Lovely?, Fever, and more! This hour long performance is sure to please.

Final Pushing The Limits Program




Our fourth and last installment of Pushing the Limits, a book club meets science cafĂ© type program will happen at the end of April.  We will be reading John Browne’s book, The Seven Elements that Changed the World: An Adventure of Ingenuity and Discovery, and discussing the scientific connections within the book and within our everyday lives. Dinner will be provided. This program was made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
